In a follow up to the previous review of SEO RankAttack (http://www.cjkcybermedia.com/seo_advisories.html) a more detailed analysis of SEO Sandbox has been performed.

SEO Sandbox the sibling application of RankAttack specifically targets Google and the infamous Sandbox.

The "Sandbox" phenomenon as first identified by Garrett French has plaugued SEO professionals and webmasters for over a year. The notion of a "cure" that could release our captive site from its SERP shackles addresses an audience that is willing to try nearly anything. Unfortunately, as before this penny pinching snake-oil is not the balm for our ailment.

The basic operation of this software requires the submission of the URL and keywords into the configuration over several steps:

There is one parameter available once this application is ready to run which controls the quantity of threads spawned. The lower right hand legend indicates the "speed" of the application license that is installed. The default demo version is evidently locked to "slowest".

Under the hood the internals are very similar to RankAttack; however deeper in the packet logs they do also indicate site: , link:, related:, and allinanchor: querystring parameters being fed to Google and other engines from spoofed HTTP_REFERRER's.

Sample:

GET /search/rslt_default.asp?type=web&query=web%20design+web%20
design+web%20design+web%20design+wpdfd.com HTTP/1.1 Accept: image/gif, image/x-xbitmap, image/jpeg, image/pjpeg, application/x-shockwave-flash, application/vnd.ms-excel, application/vnd.ms-powerpoint, application/msword, */* Accept-Language: en-us Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322) Host: www.business.com Connection: Keep-Alive

A short packet log may be downloaded here (1.9M).

The method by which this application claims success is again at best questionable, given that all targeted traffic is being generated from the same ip and the HTTP_HEADER is apparently spoofed.

I have yet to see any "white-hat" search engine optimization technique or software that can free a website from the Sandbox in "..under 10 Days..."; webmasters looking to evade the grasp of the Sandbox will not find any better solution then adding unique content, quality text links and time.
